Why Choose an Internship with VridhCare?

At VridhCare, internships go beyond paperwork and observation. They are about real involvement, real impact, and real growth.

As a Delhi-based NGO dedicated exclusively to geriatric care and elderly empowerment, we offer a unique learning environment. Founded by public health expert Dr. Shashi Khare (with over 35 years of experience) and social entrepreneur Gargi Lakhanpal, our foundation operates on a holistic model based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We don’t just provide food and shelter—we work to restore dignity, purpose, and self-worth in the lives of underprivileged senior citizens.

When you intern with us, you become part of this mission.

Our Work – The Areas Where You’ll Make an Impact

VridhCare runs several core programs aimed at improving the quality of life for senior citizens. Depending on your interests and skills, you could be placed in any of these areas:

    1. Healthcare Support & Rehabilitation

We believe that health is the foundation of dignity. Our healthcare initiatives include physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs, medical equipment distribution, health check-up camps, cataract surgery support, and vaccination drives. Interns in this domain assist in organizing camps, coordinating with old age homes, and supporting elders in their recovery journeys.

Ideal for: Public Health, Nutrition, MBBS, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Life Sciences students.

    2. Nutrition Program

Malnutrition and weakness are common challenges among the elderly. Through our Nutrition Program, we provide balanced, elder-friendly meals and nutrition kits (containing protein supplements, porridge mixes, and milk powder) to vulnerable and bedridden seniors. Interns help with meal planning, distribution coordination, and monitoring the health impact of our nutrition interventions.

Ideal for: Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, and Social Work students.

    3. Livelihood & Skill Development

This is one of our most unique programs. We believe that purpose comes from contribution. Through our Livelihood Program, we help seniors utilize their existing skills or learn new ones—such as cotton wick making, organic farming, and handicrafts—to earn dignified income. Our cotton wick project, in particular, has been transformative for elders with dementia, helping improve focus and providing a sense of accomplishment.

Ideal for: Social Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, Psychology, and Management students.

    4. Hygiene & Dignity

Through crowdfunding campaigns on platforms like Milaap, DonateKart, and Charitism, we provide adult diapers and hygiene kits to bedridden elders and old age homes. This support helps prevent infections, reduces discomfort, and allows caregivers to provide care with dignity. Interns assist in fundraising, awareness campaigns, and distribution logistics.

Ideal for: Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, and Social Work students.

    5. Emotional Well-being & Community Engagement

Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges faced by senior citizens. We organize group activities, mental well-being sessions, and special events like movie days to bring joy and connection to elders’ lives. Interns help plan these activities, engage with elders, and create moments of happiness.

Ideal for: Psychology, Sociology, Event Management, and Liberal Arts students.

    6. Communications, Fundraising & CSR

Our work is powered by partnerships with corporate donors and individual supporters. We collaborate with CSR partners like Dabur India Limited and Omron Healthcare to fund our programs. Interns in this domain help create impact stories, manage social media, write grant proposals, and support crowdfunding campaigns.

Ideal for: Mass Communication, Journalism, English Literature, Marketing, and Business students.

    7. Operations & Partnership Management

With over 1,000 partner old age homes across India, coordination is key. Interns in operations support documentation, data management, volunteer coordination, and partner communications.

Ideal for: Management, Commerce, Business Administration, and Computer Application students.

A Day in the Life of a VridhCare Intern

Imagine starting your day at our Delhi office, where you meet your mentor and review the day’s plan. You then head to one of our partner old age homes in the city. You spend the morning assisting a physiotherapist in helping elders regain mobility. You hear their stories, share a laugh, and witness the difference that compassionate care makes.

In the afternoon, you help distribute nutrition kits to bedridden seniors. You see how a simple intervention—protein supplements, soft food—can restore strength and hope.

You return to the office, work with the communications team to document the day’s impact, and share your observations. The day ends with a team debrief, where your voice is heard and your ideas are valued.

This is not just an internship. This is an experience that stays with you.
